Peter Canellis
Vice President, Logistics / Market Development
Peter Canellis is Vice President, Logistics / Market Development for GEN Logistics Systems, Inc. He is responsible for developing strategic relationships with industry associations and academia.
Dr. Canellis has more than 20 years experience in the intermodal transportation industry, working in engineering and maintenance of freight handling and transport equipment administration, operations, and information systems. He has managed technical and administrative staffs to purchase, lease, maintain, and control intermodal equipment.
Prior to joining GEN, Dr. Canellis served as Senior Consultant, Transportation and Logistics, for GE Information Services (GEIS), where he developed strategies and delivered seminars on establishing electronic commerce in port shipping communities in Latin America. Prior to his work with GEIS, he was a member of the IBM Consulting Group. There, he consulted with clients to improve business operations through the application of information technology.
Earlier in his career, he served as Chief Engineer, Director of Operations, and Director of Maintenance and Repair for divisions of two worldwide ocean carriers, and as an intermodal transportation consultant specializing in transport operations and engineering / maintenance of freight handling equipment.
He is Adjunct Professor of Transportation and Logistics at the State University of New York (SUNY) Maritime College, where he has created and teaches courses in Asset Management and Management Information Systems in the logistics environment.
Dr. Canellis holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering / Transportation from Stevens Institute of Technology, an MS in Transportation from SUNY Maritime College, an MBA from St. John’s University, and a BCE from The City College of New York.
He is a Registered Professional Engineer in New York, New Jersey, and Texas.
